Hi there! My name is Lauren and I’m a long-distance runner. I live in Minneapolis with my husband and our two dogs (Phoebe and Little Bear) and two cats (Charlie and Beesly). By day, I’m a social worker and clinical therapist. I started running in the summer of 2017 with the Couch to 5K app in order to get ready for a charity 5K race. By the end of my training, I had caught the running bug and my life changed forever.
I progressed from 5K’s to 10-mile races over the course of a year and decided to go for the ultimate distance: 26.2. I registered for the 2018 Twin Cities Marathon but unfortunately (due mostly to inconsistent training) I developed a bad femoral stress fracture nine weeks before the race and had to drop out. After a few months spent resting and healing, I started training for my second marathon: 2019 Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN. That brings us to the present: I’m currently in the throws of training for Grandma’s, which will be on June 22, 2019.
Thanks for following along on my running journey. I’ve got some big running goals and dreams (#TrynaBQ) and am excited to see what the next few years bring!
